Upcoming Events

The Ruskin Society organizes a regular programme of events for members, including talks, visits, and an annual celebration of Ruskin’s birthday each February.

For Your Diaries (Membership Required):

We are pleased to invite you to a Ruskin Society visit to the Alpine Club on Friday 3 July 2026.

The Alpine Club has a long and fascinating history connected with mountaineering, exploration, art and literature, and should make for a very interesting visit. Ruskin was himself a member of the Club, and we hope to see his membership records as well as a number of his drawings. There is also a strong Ruskin connection through Dr Cynthia Gamble, whose article John Ruskin, Eugène Viollet-le-Duc and the Alps was based on an illustrated talk given at the Alpine Club on 28 April 1998.

After the visit, we are arranging an optional lunch nearby at The Brush East London Grand Café, at the art’otel London Hoxton. This will give members an opportunity to continue the conversation informally.

Please note that the visit itself is free of charge; lunch is at members’ own expense.
